You only need to use a knife ONE time and it needs to work for that ONE time! Whether it does or does not go through half inch plywood or a tree stump is not important.

If you want to inflict a penetrating wound that would stop a person/mugger etc. You are much better with a purpose designed weapon ie: any spike design.
