Small Sgian Dubh Scottich Dirk
DescriptionThis is an authentic historical replica of the Scottish Sgian Dubh Dirks which originated in the early 1800's.
The sgian dubh is a Scottish knife that is worn on the calf of the leg (tucked into your sock) in highland wear; "sgian dubh" is Gaelic for "black knife" and is pronounced "skin doo." The commonest spelling is sgian dubh, but sgian dhu and other spelling variations are also allowable.
Although worn largely by the Scots, it's also worn by the Irish with their kilt outfits.
It features a highly polished stainless steel blade. The ebony black molded hard rubber grip is accented with decorative thistle elements. It includes a secure scabbard with coordinating thistle details on the cast metal pommel and guard.
This beautiful Dirk is 7" overall in length.

It is exactly as described, and exactly matches it's price. Fits in scabbard and looks pretty good. However it is labeled as a letter opener on the box. But it is the sharpest letter opener I have ever seen. Can be sharpened to be of real use, otherwise a great deal for 5 bucks for all you scots out there.
